Waters Blend and the rediscovered moment

With Hidden, musician Waters Blend has released a new soulful piece of music. Here, the sound really is the language that expresses feelings. A piece that lets you sink deep into your own thoughts and reflect.

Five minutes is pretty long in this day and age. Especially when it comes to music. Songs tend to be short and snappy these days. They obey algorithms, trends and the enforced listening habits of fans, who often only pop in for a quick listen. What exactly is behind a song and what story it tells at its origin usually remains hidden.

Musician Waters Blend himself says of the piece: ‘When my mum told me that our dog had tested positive for a deadly disease, but that it was still possible that the virus would never break out, I had to turn this smouldering feeling into a song. This strange mixture of sadness, relief and fear of the unknown resulted in a song that I reworked about six times. But now I’m happy with it :).’

Waters Blend creates glittering sound experiences

Waters Blend makes his feelings palpable in the piece. The sounds flow into one another. They give our thoughts space, allow them to wander and yet are suddenly picked up again by the vocals and the lush synths. Hidden is a great work, especially because of the almost weeping sounds of the guitar just before the end. The tempo increases and I am suddenly reminded of the guitar music of the late 80s. But the musician docks back to the present day with his composition at the end and lets his piece fade out gently. Wonderful. Just one more time.

The Swiss guitarist Djamal Moumene is the person behind the artist Waters Blend. During the corona lockdown, he began to change his music production process. He extracted all external noises and focussed entirely on creating something new. The result is five songs, some of which were born from existing pieces, but whose intensity conveys even more of the artist’s feelings and thoughts.
