US rapper and R’n’B artist Yung Bleu releases Love Scars II, an album full of emotion, sophisticated lyrics and typical Yung Bleu melodies.
Spotify artist of repute
Yung Bleu, real name Jeremy Biddle, hails from Mobile (Alabama) and is a Grammy-nominated multi-platinum singer, rapper and songwriter with over 3 billion streams to date. He has been active as a musician since 2013 and celebrated his breakthrough in 2020 with the single You’re Mines Still, which was remixed by US rapper Drake.
Yung Bleu was nominated at the 2023 iHeart Awards, won at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards and the Soul Train Award for Best New Artist. In addition, he toured with Lil Baby.
Notable features and soulful songs
The album follows directly on from the previous album and thus completes the album series Love Scars: The 5 Stages of Emotion. For the 15 tracks of Love Scars II Bleu got well-known features and producers like Ty Dolla $ign, Tink, Hitmaka, Chrishan Dotson (Makasound) or OG Parker on board. The songs convince through creativity, intimacy and allow touch points to topics with which the listeners also gathered experience.
His tracks don’t sound overproduced, but are a great symbiosis of analog instruments and electronic elements. They remind me of the early days of R’n’B and artists like Ne-Yo.
Among my favorites are the songs The Way You Rock, Waterfalls and Casamigo Nights. They are atmospheric songs with catchy melodies that are easy to get into. Also the feature with Ty Dolla $ign and other rappers bring a great twist in and break up the song structures, which I personally find very refreshing.
I can recommend the album to fans of contemporary R’n’B music who are not averse to hip hop elements.
