Tal Arditi moves you unexpectedly. It’s his gentle voice that makes time almost stand still in his new single Lonely. Known for his delicate jazz guitar playing, he now seems ready to reach a broader audience.
Lonely is about ghosting – a trend of our time that still baffles me. How can someone just disappear without saying goodbye? How can they completely cut off contact? Why do people do this? They hurt others, often knowingly, and seemingly don’t care. Apparently, Tal Arditi has experienced this as well. “I’ve been waiting for / My phone to ring again / But nothing never came,” he sings.
The sense of despair is tangible. Underlined by subtle musical textures, we can almost feel the waiting and hoping. At the same time, the song shows a transformation in the music of the Berlin-based Israeli: once hailed as a jazz prodigy, he turns his guitar into a versatile instrument. He plays with gentle taps, making the heaviness of being left behind feel lighter. His soft voice adds the perfect touch to warm the heart of any singer-songwriter fan. A sincere song that truly resonates.
The single is the precursor to his upcoming album, set to release in May 2026. Tal Arditi will perform in several German cities for the first time. Fans of José González will find something familiar here, while those who prefer a slightly more rhythmic approach, like Tash Sultan, will also feel at home. Tickets should be secured quickly, as the musician has already sold out international venues.
