Dylan Chambers on Tour in Germany with 70s Soul and Funk

Dylan Chambers is hitting the road in Germany. As the support for the US band Lawrence, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter is set to bring fans of rock and soul some serious heat.

His music is modern yet retro. Growing up with vintage funk, 50s rock, and soul, Dylan Chambers absorbed this style deeply. On his mid-October released EP Dreaming in Technicolor, he takes his fans on a musical time travel – all without sounding forced. He seamlessly bridges the classic sounds of the 70s with today’s fast-paced music scene.

A Reunion After Challenging Times

The new EP shows how Dylan Chambers and his music have evolved over the past few years. Our first meeting was unusual: in early 2021, as the world came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, musicians and bands had to find new ways to promote their music. Shortly after, Clubhouse launched, allowing people to talk in conference-style audio-only chats.

In this unique setting, we discussed music and everything we missed: live shows. I had just started an Instagram Live talk series on MUSICSPOTS, and Dylan shared stories about canceled tours and new releases. He also opened up about a difficult personal period, while finally finding the right partner for his music production – someone who truly understands his sound. Together with Stefan Lit (known for working with artists like Lil Nas X and Hailee Steinfeld), they created a partnership that still thrives today, delivering a smooth, perfectly rounded sound. Here and Now: Funky Rock and Soul

A lot has happened for Dylan Chambers over the past five years. He has continuously released music, from funky rock tracks to soulful pop and even cheeky Christmas songs like Christmas Without You. Love and life are central themes across his work, which is also evident on Dreaming in Technicolor.

With six energetic and emotive tracks, Dylan Chambers offers music to dream by – while giving listeners the chance to let their emotions flow. He skillfully incorporates familiar arrangements and compositions: gritty guitars, horns, choirs, and a mix of upbeat and soulful downtempo tracks like Mercy (That’s What I Need) and Love Like This.

“Artists like Chuck Berry and Al Green were producing this deep, vibrant music that brought excitement and danger to a straightlaced world, and I want people to know we can still do that,” says Dylan Chambers about his new mini-album.

Choosing from the newest tracks is tough: Golden Handcuff delivers a soulful 70s vibe, while Whatever Happens is simple yet effective – even imagined acoustically.
